1 Day-1 A Special morning assembly was organised under the supervision of the Principal and Vice-Principal in which about 400 students of classes 9-12 along with 15 teachers did a rigorous yoga session combined with suryanamaskar and various asanas for a duration of 45 minutes. This helped the students to deal with their stress and bring back some peace of mind. A video-session was organised for the students of classes 9-12 on good nutrition. This video gave the message that good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Combined with physical activity, your diet can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease and cancer), and promote your overall health. A PPT was also shown to the students and staff on the importance of having a balanced diet. This PPT instilled on the fact that a well-balanced diet provides important vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to keep the body and mind strong and healthy. Eating well can also help ward off numerous diseases and health complications, as well as help maintain a healthy body weight, provide energy, allow better sleep, and improve brain function. A two days seminar session was also conducted for the State Sports teachers of the MP region and which was organised by the Khelo-India-Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in the School premises. The goal of the seminar was to inculcate team spirit and develop strategic thinking, analytical thinking, leadership skills, goal setting and risk taking. The DEO, Morena; and members of the Sports Authority of India were the distinguished guests of the seminar.
2 Day-2 About 500 students (classes 6-8) and 25 teachers began the day by doing some free-hand exercises. The students engaged themselves in stretching their bodies and doing some breathing exercise. These exercises helped the students in toning up their circulatory system and refreshed them with some vibrant and positive energy. Day two seminar session was also conducted for the State Sports teachers of the MP region and which was organised by the Khelo-India-Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in the School premises. The goal of the seminar was to inculcate team spirit and develop strategic thinking, analytical thinking, leadership skills, goal setting and risk taking. The DEO, Morena; Collector, Morena and members of the Sports Authority of India were the distinguished guests of the seminar. A speech and debate competition was also conducted for the students of classes 11-12 on the theme-“Fit body and the Importance of Sports” and “Should Sports and Physical Exercise be made compulsory in schools or not.” The students highlighted various points in their speech that sports and games are an important part of our lives. They improve our physical fitness, improve our cognitive abilities and in the case of team games, enhance our social skills. They also highlighted the fact that sports improve the general quality of life. It also assists in developing the habit of obedience, discipline, the determination to win and enhance willpower. Regular participation in games or sports will also enable a person to develop a sense of determination. Eventually, a good sports person can become a good leader too as sports also inculcates leadership qualities.
3 Day-3 A poster making competition was held for the students of classes 5-10 in which about 135 students participated. They drew various paintings and drawings on the theme-“Fit Body, Fit Mind and Fit Environment. These paintings and drawings colourfully and beautifully showcased by the students gave the message that fit body, fit mind, and fit environment depend on one another. Only people who are physically fit, can have fit mind; and only people with fit mind and fit body can make environment fit. The same day the fitness assessment of the students was also done through the Khelo-India App. This app developed by the Sports Authority of India helps in assessing the fitness levels of school-going children through a battery of tests and which also provides insights into which sport they would be most competent in.
4 Day-4 Around 700 plus students of classes (6-10) participated in Hindi Essay Writing Competition on the theme-“Fit-India School”. Class-6 students wrote on the topic-“Jeevan me Khel-Kud ka Mahatv”, Class-7 students wrote on the topic-“Jeevan me Vyayam ka Mahatv” and Class-8 students wrote on the topic-“Fit India-Hamara Ek Prayas”. Classes 1-5 students (about 500 Plus students) did an aerobics session in the morning. Various jumping and rhythmic movement of the body made the kids to sweat and made them breathe harder. This aerobic session was an endurance enhancer for all the little kids. They also participated in dance and taekwondo session in the afternoon. This helped their hearts to pump faster and to rejuvenate themselves. About 200 students of the Pre-Primary wing also participated in the Physical Exercise and aerobics dance with colourful props for a session of 40 minutes. These exercises aimed to teach toddlers about rhythm, movement, coordination skills and dance through a series of fun oriented exercises. About 200 girls of classes (6-10) participated in rope-skipping exercise during the day. The girls also enjoyed this session with fun and high intensity jumping over the skipping rope and burning calories at the same time. The teachers too at the end of the day actively participated in rope skipping and it was a high intensity workout for all the teachers too. The staff of the school also participated in an aerobics session in the afternoon after which they played a friendly basketball match with the students. The students also participated in gardening activity. They actively involved themselves in watering the plants of the school, cleaning the garden and removing the dry grass and leaves.
5 Day-5 A Sports Quiz was organised for all the students of classes (6-10) in which the winners of the prelims round actively participated and which gave them an opportunity to hone their teamwork skills. It also gave them an occasion to recollect their sports related general knowledge.
6 Day-6 The last day of the Fit India Week in Neill World School, Morena was also a day packed with various activities both for the students, staff and parents too. A competition on Traditional Games was held for the students, staff and parents. The traditional game of Manipur-“HiyangYubiLakpi” (Coconut snatching) was chosen as the partner state and it was actively played by the students of the school, staff and the parents. Gilli-Danda, Sitholia, Gutte(Small stones), Poshampa, Langri, StapuGhera Rolling (Tyre Rolling) were actively played among the students and the staff. They played under the guidance of the PE Trainers of the school.
